- Gill Sans: I don't know why, but I am absolutely in love with this font. It has a hidden beauty that comes out on my screen at smaller sizes (a hidden treat!). Bringhurst says "Books have been set successfully in Gill Sans, though it requires a sure sense of color and measure." I'd dearly love to see such a book. (Some critic think Gill screwed up. Of their alternatives, only Granby seems at all comparable.)

- Spira: very nice as well
- Golden Cockerel: my new favorite? It would be fitting if both my top fonts were by Eric Gill.
- Mrs Eaves: This is definitely my favorite serif. It's well-built (with oldstyle figures, small caps (even petite caps!) and an elegant italic) but still has enough character to make it enjoyable. I haven't looked at pages of type set in it yet, so it might not work out, but I'm certainly attracted to it. I first saw it on the Blind Faith Café menu (2002-12-23), and got its name thru WhatTheFont.
