Bumperactive is giving away FREE THE MOUSE bumper stickers in honor of the Eldred v. Ashcroft case which is currently before the Supreme Court, claiming that the 1998 Copyright Term Extension Act (mostly designed to keep Disney’s copyright on Mickey Mouse alive) is unconstitutional. The case is a big deal: if successful, it would be the first time works have fallen into the public domain for a long time. Since one the biggest effects of a victory would be to let Mickey and other copyrighted works become “free culture”, Free the Mouse has been one of their rallying cries.
Anyway, be sure to grab your bumper stickers and spread the word about this important case and great deal!
[Heh, they’re free (as in price) FREE (as in freedom) THE MOUSE stickers. In with the GNU mouse, a derivative of the old mouse. Sorry, I’ll stop.]
