Pat Jensen has posted a cool trick for running your screen saver on your desktop. Just open a terminal, and type:

/System/Library/Frameworks/ScreenSaver.framework/Resources/ScreenSaverEngine.app/Contents/MacOS/ScreenSaverEngine -background

Neat. Bill Bumgarner points out that if you replace background with foreground you can see them in the foreground too. He has a prefPanel, FackBore that lets you configure all this.
