I put together Aaron’s Internet Mail 2000 Proposal earlier today for the im2000 list. It was sort of fun. Someone complained that the message URIs were “security through obscurity” so I did some fun calculations:
A relatively small 20-character string (like EzYlONo9JI3hnffmyLl8) provides for 7e+35 possibilities. Even if everyone in the world sent 1000 email messages every day for 100 years and stored them all on the same server, you’d still only have a .0000000000000000003 chance of guessing a valid number.
